Do my birds have mites?

My mother and brother were cleaning while i was at work. My mother decides she wanted to come upstairs to my room where i the computer. She calls my brother upstairs who brought his pellet gun up with him. He's immature so he likes to carry it around with him and play with it. He realized that the gun had mites on it from being out on are back porch which was infested with mites because we had a bird's nest that had mites in it. He wasn't in my room for very long with the gun, but i want to know if it is possible for my birds to get mites. My mother vaccumed my room out and everything. Do those types of mites jump?
